Back on the topic of stories. I really don’t want to get too much into the stories people tell, because I feel that its a pretty mundane topic. But, there is one story that annoys me almost everytime I hear it.
The back home story is one where the teller states how difficult/better/complex their experience was in their original place or origin. In university, I often hear this story from people that come from other countries or transferred from another school.
What upsets me most about this story, is that people often tell me is when they are fucking up. If you learned conics in elementary school Japan please tell me why you haven’t memorized the quadratic equation. If you learned exergy calculations at your first year of Harvard then tell me why your fucking up now.
Give me a break and go back to your special place.

Here’s the thing. I’m not too old and I’m not that young but sometimes the world can really make you feel like a retard. I’m talking about people who talk to damn fast or too damn low. What is your deal exactly? Are you trying to sabotage the conversation!
I’ll admit it, I use to talk uber fast and wave my hands all over the place. –A, use to tell me I wave my hands a lot. But turns out it’s a necessity with people who don’t speak up! My career is entirely based on working with the elderly. So I have learnt that my old childhoods ways had to change. I can’t talk too fast or speak too softly or my older client base will simply reject me for our miscommunication. But my hand gestures are a must.
Now, the tables have turned. I hate fast talkers and low speakers. Who put a pot of coffee in your blood stream this morning! And who stole your vocal chords!I hate asking um, what did you say? I can’t hear you and I missed that.
No, I’m not deaf, No I’m not retarded and Yes, my primary language by birth is English. Funny now I alienated or cazy but everyone else is normal. What am I in the Twilight Zone?
