Back on the topic of stories. I really don’t want to get too much into the stories people tell, because I feel that its a pretty mundane topic. But, there is one story that annoys me almost everytime I hear it.
The back home story is one where the teller states how difficult/better/complex their experience was in their original place or origin. In university, I often hear this story from people that come from other countries or transferred from another school.
What upsets me most about this story, is that people often tell me is when they are fucking up. If you learned conics in elementary school Japan please tell me why you haven’t memorized the quadratic equation. If you learned exergy calculations at your first year of Harvard then tell me why your fucking up now.
Give me a break and go back to your special place.

Who is the mystery guy?
While sitting in the library, I overheard a story that I’ve heard many times before. I then began to realize that most people probably hear this same story.
First you need to be part of a large group of people, such as a university, church or large company. Next you need a fantastical story involving an amazing feat of excellence or disaster. The third thing you need is a mystery person nobody has ever heard of or seen.
Why do we always find ourselves listening and believing such stories that we clearly know are rumours. Have you ever tried to gain more information? I did and all that you get are awkward sounds and random excuses.
Mystery person I salute your success.

tumblrbot asked: WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?
One place I would like to visit is Pamplona, Spain for the festival of San Fermín. I obviously intended to run with the bulls.
I always wanted to complete the run after university to signify my entering into manhood/adulthood. I think that everyone should try to have a coming of age celebration. But with changes in society and most of us remaining students into our 20’s, I feel that we remain adolescent much longer than normal.
What’s a coming of age celebration without a test? Obviously, university was difficult. But a true test has to be something extreme, just to ensure that my survival isn’t a fluke.

The more consecutive years you spend in university, the more you realize how unsuccessful your professors actually are.

Staying on the topic of music, I began listening to CBC Radio 2 in my car. The station has an eclectic mix of classical and jazz music from time to time.
They say that baroque music with 50-80 beats per minute can be brain boosting. Being a man of performance, I decided to make listening a commuter drive habit – just to get my juices flowing before lecture.
What can I tell you about the results? In a simplistic definition, classical music makes me hyper. Never have I had so much road rage on the way to school. Don’t believe me? Listen to Vivaldi – Four Seasons as other drivers dart in and out of traffic. It makes you want to battle them from getting into your lane.
Reality is, the classical refined music of today is merely the thuggish melody of the past.

I just finished midterms not too long ago. In terms of exam situation, I have essentially seen it all over the past 4 years.
I unfortunately, forgot what it meant to be obliterated. By obliteration, I mean those situations where you are totally ill-prepared for the exam. Something that happened to me in first/second year. But after a few bad exams you learn what to expect and how things are in university.
What caught me off guard, was this is an elective without a textbook. I should have known something was fishy, but I had good faith in the prof.
Anyways, the point is that sometimes in life you cannot prepare for the unknown. Regardless of how much due diligence you take, something are meant to elude you. Some people don’t necessarily care about your best interest, nor do they feel that things should be fair.
Never let the naysayers stop your progress. Take names and move on. Forgive but never forget.

Measuring Performance
It seems that the new trend in educational institutions is to integrate IT technology into the student experience. Although I support this and recognize it is inevitable – I feel that rules and restrictions need to be developed.
This is the first time in history a professor can instantaneously assess student comprehension. Unfortunately, this results in absurd demands. For instance, I spend Thanksgiving weekend submitting an assignment and taking an online quiz.
To be successful, one doesn’t need to take the pseudo-Netwon anti-socil/anti-marriage approach or the pseudo-Einstien marry-a-cousin approach – Thomas Edison didn’t.

Have you started looking at people differently? Do you look at a persons and feel like you know things about them you shouldn’t have known. You should be ashamed but you didn’t ask to know that stuff. It’s called Facebook Background Syndrom {FBBS}
You know there’s so much that you can say about what’s wrong with facebook and damnit I feel like I’m a stalker. I’m now talking to someone I haven’t really talked to properly ever but somehow their on my facebook. Common facebook fact, adding anyone and categorize them as a “friend”. So I know everything about this person and I feel I have violated every inch of their privacy.
I’m already looking at this person remember, oh shoot you’re head was in the toilet last month because you were so hammered and John Zacolikalis’s birthday party, and you use to be a fit runner but you came in last because of the gut you developed through the years when you started going to university. But, I’m actually saying “ I never knew you ran, that’s amazing, it keeps you in shape..oh what’s that you went to a party? How was it?”
